A Composition in Parts

A Composition in Parts (2017) is a collaborative project between artist R. Eric McMaster, composer Danny Clay, and Friction Quartet. The project was commissioned by the City of Austin and was installed throughout Austin’s Schroeter Park and later relocated to Rendon Sr. Park. The work consists of four solar-powered sound stations; each station played one recorded instrument from a string quartet, with the synced audio ideally mixing in the center of the park. 52 minutes.
